Mapping Urban Forestry Using Python

In App Development (Track) by Estela Rueda

Python is the top language that programmers want to use this year, and MongoDB the top database, according to the Stack Overflow Developer Survey. Let’s use these tools to map some Urban Forestry Administration data. We’ll see which DC neighborhoods are dense with trees and which are sparse, and learn whether the tree on the corner is a red oak or a pin oak. We’ll install MongoDB and scientific Python libraries, and code up a web application. Learn to use PyMongo from one of its developers, and create a working app that you can adapt to a variety of data and visualizations.
